The hiking section on Ornö gives you the chance to experience it all. Beautiful forests, cultural landscapes, winding paths over rocky areas, open grazing lands and a vibrant island. The hike takes you up to heights with stunning views, through forests and along coastal trails. Ornö is the longest section on the Stockholm Archipelago Trail.
The island lies in Stockholm's southern archipelago within Haninge Municipality and holds twelve inland lakes and two nature reserves. People have left their mark here since the Bronze Age — seal hunters, then farmers and fishermen. In 1719, Russian forces burned much of Ornö, but the island was rebuilt and carries on with a rich cultural heritage.
Experiencing Ornö is more than a day trip; it is a journey for the soul.
Year-round car ferry from Dalarö to Hässelmara. Summer season (22 June – 16 August 2026): the Nordsyd line stops at Ornö kyrka. Local SL buses serve the island daily and accept SL cards.
